We launched our appeal in May 2016, and by the November were confident of raising the funds from both private individuals and Trusts and Charities.
The removal operation took one day as both bells were taken from their housing, hoisted carefully from the bellcote with ropes and a tackle, examined at ground level and finally packed in to the Nicholson’s truck for removal to Bridport.
We are extremely proud that the bells were removed and restored and rehung within eighteen months of being condemned – a massive feat for such a small parish, and unachievable without such generous support. The PCC parishioners of Llys-y-frân owe a huge debt of gratitude to a number of individuals and bodies.
The parishioners themselves dug deep in cash and time. They cajoled their families and friends, along with kind visitors into emptying their pockets to our good cause. Some ran, some sang, some cooked, some typed, some dug very deep into their own resources, lots came to Church events. Everyone contributed what they could, anything between £5 and £2000 in targeted fund raising.
Thank you, the sixty or so individuals who gave so generously. We could not have done it without you and the four Trusts and Charities below:
- The AllChurches Trust Ltd
- The Garfield Weston Foundation
- The Sharpe Trust
- The Welsh Church Act Fund
